Description:

(1901 - 1989) Emperor of Japan revered as a god by his people, leader of Japan through World War II who ultimately made the decision to capitulate. Excellent partly printed D.S., 1p. 18 x 24 in., [Tokyo], date not translated, an award of the Order of the Sacred Treasure, 2nd Class signed by the emperor with broad black brush strokes just beneath a chrysanthemum symbol and above his large "chop". One small marginal tear at left has been archivally repaired on verso, else very good and never folded. With 8.5 x 6 in. photo, 1931, showing Hirohito and military officers inspecting troops at Mount Fuji. Generally, these documents include the phrases: "By the grace of Heaven, Emperor of Japan, seated on the throne occupied by the same dynasty from time immemorial, We confer the Second Class of the Imperial Order of Meiji..." The insignia of the order incorporates symbols for the three imperial treasures: the Yata Mirror, so sacred that not even the Emperor is allowed to look at it; the Yasakani Jewel, which is made of the finest jade; and the Emperor's personal sword.

Shipments are sent via USPS Priority, USPS International Priority, FedEx and DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight.
