Description:

(1893 - 1946) German politician who began his career as an ace in World War I, rose to become Hitler's right-hand man and head of the Luftwaffe, finally captured and committed suicide on the eve of his execution. Fine content partly-printed D.S., 1p. sm. folio, Berchtesgaden, Nov. 22, 1938, a technical promotion of famous mathematician DR. ERNST PESCHL from the position of "Lecturer" to "Extraordinary Professor". Boldly signed at lower-right, beneath the lithographed signature of Adolf Hitler. Folds, still very good. ERNST FERDINAND PESCHL (1906–1986) was a mathematician whose main areas of research were geometric complex analysis, partial differential equations, and the theory of functions of several complex variables. He received this title from Hitler while teaching at the University of Bonn. Under pressure Peschl became a member of the Nazi Party and the paramilitary Sturmabteilung, but he avoided any activity within either organization and ended SA service after a year. From 1941 to 1943 he was drafted as a French interpreter for the Wehrmacht. From 1943 to 1945 he worked at the German Aviation Research Institute in Brunswick, which exempted him from further military service during World War II.
