A finely-made Hermann Goring presentation hunting dagger by Zeitner with sterling silver fittings, the dagger 11.5 in. long overall with scabbard. The grip is a section of antler, possibly a gemsbuck, with the pommel displaying an engraved image of Goring's coat of arms - an armored upraised arm grasping a ring, contained within a shield which in turn is surrounded by laurel leaves. The blade, unmarked, is clean and essentially free of significant oxidation. The cross guard is deeply engraved: '18. Nov. 34', the date of the hunt after which this gift was awarded. The scabbard is covered in undamaged green pebbled leather, and it bears a hammed silver end and top. The top of the scabbard is marked with the maker's name: 'Zeitner Berlin', a hallmark, and an '835' purity stamp. Overall fine condition, and certainly representative of Goring's habit of bestowing lavish gifts on his hunting partners.
