Description:

HERMANN AND EMMY GOERING AWARD CERTIFICATE
Pair of hand-lettered awards, each 1p. 12 3/4" x 17 3/4" vellum, given to Hermann and Emmy Goering by the Marie Seebach Stiftung, a charitable foundation in Weimar (still in existence), acknowledging their support of the performing arts as part of a four-year plan. Goring is praised as: "...the trusted paladin of the Führer...with the time and love...supporting the German actor and singer...". For saving this cause, the foundation names Goering "Protector" and declares that his grant will bear his name thereafter. The award given Emmy Goering, a former member of the foundation, mentions her many stage appearances including those in Weimar and Berlin. She is thanked for enlisting her husband's assistance in supporting the foundation, and is given an honorary directorship. The documents are mounted within a blue pebbled leather presentation folio with the gilt monogram of the foundation on the front cover, with gilt trim and wood and wax pendant seal. Corners rubbed, a few light scuffs to document, else very good. Emma "Emmy" Goering (née Sonnemann) was already an accomplished theater actress when she became Goering's second wife. This item was undoubtedly looted from one of Goering's residences.
