Description:

HERMAN GORING PRESENTATION PHOTOGRAPH
A superb Goring item, an oversized signed photograph of the Reichsmarschall contained within a fine Goring presentation sterling silver frame. The photograph, approx. 10 x 13 in. b/w, depicts Goring half-length in full dress uniform ca. 1940, his marshall's baton and awards, all readily visible. Based on research that shows another similar pose from the same photo session, where he is also wearing a cape, it is presumed that this is the first official photograph commemorating his 1940 promotion to 'Reichsmarschall des Grossdeutschen Reiches'. He adds his bold black ink 'Goring' signature at bottom. The photograph is encased within 10.75 x 13.75 in. hammered sterling silver frame, the top adorned with a 3.2 in. wide national eagle with swastika clutching crossed marshall's batons, a motif often used by Goring. Frame is maker marked 'Zeitner-Berlin', also showing a Zeitner hallmark of 'Z' within a circle, and additionally showing a silver mark of '830' in a circle. Both photo and frame are in excellent condition, and the first such example of this size and quality we've encountered.
