Description:

HERBERT HOOVER
(1874-1964) 31st President of the United States whose attempts to reverse the course of the Great Depression led to his defeat at the polls by Franklin D. Roosevelt. Rare D.S., his endorsement on the verso of one of his last Presidential paychecks, dated Nov. 30, 1932 for the $5,000 drawn on the U.S. Treasury and personally signed by the Treasurer. Punch cancellation affects two letters in Hoover's bold signature, otherwise in very good condition. Matted with a portrait of Hoover.
