LONGFELLOW, fine A.Q.S. 1p. 12mo., Clifton, [n.d.], on his personal correspondence card, in full: " 'Truly the hearts of men are as stars, whose rays so journeying on through space and darkness towards objects near and far; Sometimes attaining, oftener unattaining - but when they do, lighting them up with a very pleasant illumination as your kindly feelings have, my rather distant orb' From Henry W. Longfellow to Emma Marshall". Mounting remains to verso, very good. With WILLIAM CULLEN BRYANT, brief A.L.S. 1p. 12mo., Roslyn, Dec. 26, 1873, to the publisher D. Appleton asking for a copy of his poem. Light toning to bottom margin, wear and ink blurring, just good. Two pieces.
