HENRY KNOX
(1750 - 1806) American Revolution major general and advisor to Washington, Knox served throughout the war and was responsible for building the Continental Army's artillery stock. War-date partly-printed D.S. "Knox" and his wife LUCY FLUCKER KNOX (1756-1824), 1p. legal folio, Thomaston, [Mass.], Dec. 4, 1781. Only months after the dramatic American victory at Yorktown, Washington's artillery chief tends to more mundane affairs, selling a 100 acre tract of land in Hancock County, Mass. to George Ulmer for the sum of $273. Toned at folds from ill-conceived tape repair, rough margins, else very good. Matted and framed with a portrait of Knox.
