(1923 - ) German-born American politician, diplomat, and geopolitical consultant who served as U.S. Secretary of State and National Security Advisor under the presidential administrations of Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford. T.L.S. 1p. 8vo., July 28, 1971, on White House letterhead, to Lawrence E. Spivak, host of the prestigious public affairs program Meet the Press. In part: ‘…I judge that you are simply doing your duty in continuing to reiterate your invitation to me to appear on ‘Meet the Press'. And I know you will understand that I am simply doing my duty in continuing to decline your invitations. You are thoughtful to let me know that you are keeping me in mind.
