Description:

HEINZ EHAUS
(1906 - 1945) German lawyer, employee of the Gestapo, SS-Obersturmbannfuhrer and district captain in German-occupied Poland. After the outbreak of war, Ehaus was transferred to Poland and became land commissioner in Nisko. From the beginning of December 1939, Ehaus was district captain in Rzeszow, in the Krakow district. On Jan. 22, 1940, 30 to 40 Jews were publicly whipped on his orders in the Rzeszow market square. In March 1942, Ehaus was appointed senior government councilor and promoted to Obersturmbannfuhrer the same year. After all Jews had been deported from the Rzeszow district, Ehaus placed a sign in the shape of an eagle with the following inscription at the Lubomirski Castle - the seat of the district administration: 'The eagle, the German symbol of elevation and greatness, was placed here on the occasion of the liberation of the city of Reichshof from all Jews in July 1942'. He would commit suicide at war's end. Exceedingly rare typed D.S., 1p. oblong 8vo., Stockhausen, Jan. 18, 1945, in part: '...Driving Order The driver Johann Monarcha and the co-driver Marian Nolnik of the District Captain in Sokolow set off with the LKN. IV Ost 245042 with refugee goods...[and refugees]...in the Warsaw district, duly equipped with refugee certificates, to Bromberg and back to Stockhausen. I ask you to let them pass unhindered and provide them with protection and help if necessary...'. A Sokolow-Treblinka concentration camp stamp appears at the bottom. Soiled with folds, boldly signed and overall, very good.
