HEINRICH SIMON ARCHIVE
A large group of material relative to influential journalist and publisher Professor Heinrich Simon (1880-1941). Simon was the grandson of publisher Leopold Sonnemann, and wrote for the Frankfurter Zeitung. Simon's personal relations with key intellectuals in the period of the Weimar Republic were reflected in his writings and he rendered great service to the cultural life in the city of Frankfurt am Main. The material is largely from the 1910s, totaling over 200 pages, and includes A.L.S.s, T.L.S.s., pages of unsigned A.Ms., notes, original telegrams, typescripts of speeches, copies of newspapers and clippings thereof, ledgers and several unsigned books. In untranslated German, the pieces include, in very small part: a T.Ms. (unsigned but possibly by Simon), titled "Der Staatsburger als Trager der Verfassung", with numerous holograph corrections, with several printed versions of the speech/article; a mimeographed copy of a play entitled "Der Jungling" (The Young Man), not signed or identified; a lengthy A.Ms. (unsigned) titled "The Gift of the Magi", with other signatories including: ARTHUR APITZER, OTTO STOCKHAUSEN, ERNST STETTENHEIMER, RUDOLF BRANDT, ADOLF REBNER, ADOLF LORSCH, FRIEDRICH STRAUS, MAX MAAS, ULRICH, RAUSCHER, ANNA FRIEDLANDER,, and many more not identified by us. Books include: Ludwig Klug and two by Simon himself, and complete copies of his pamphlets and so on. Worthy of research, overall very good condition.
