HEINRICH HIMMLER
(1900 - 1945) Hitler's Chief of the Gestapo placed in charge of security and responsible for the construction and operation of extermination camps. He chose suicide rather than face a hangman's noose at Nuremberg. Fine content D.S. on a Reichsfuhrer-SS telex form, 1p. legal folio, [n.p.], Mar. 7, 1943, to HANS JUTTNER (1895-1965), a high-ranking functionary in the SS who served as the head of the SS Fuhrungshauptamt (SS Leadership Main Office). In part: '...Dear Juttner! Please make sure that Standartenfuhrer Freitag, commander of the SS-Kavallerie-Division...is ordered as quickly as possible to about 4 weeks as chief of the partisan combat units, Obergruppenfuhrer [Erich] von dem Bach, so that he can learn to fight partisans properly there...' File holes in left margin, else near fine. Sold with a related document from his adjutant's office further referring to training, dates for same, the division's location, etc. Two pieces. Fritz Freitag (1894–1945) was a German SS commander who commanded the 2nd SS Infantry Brigade, the SS Cavalry Division Florian Geyer, and the SS Division Galicia. Freitag committed suicide in May 1945.
