Description:

HEINRICH HIMMLER PRESENTATION PLAQUE
A presentation plaque presumably offered by Reichsminister-SS Heinrich Himmler honoring Henry I (born c. 876—936), German king and founder of the Saxon dynasty (918–1024) who strengthened the German army, encouraged the growth of towns, brought Lotharingia (Lorraine) back under German control, and secured German borders against pagan incursions. The 10.5 x 10.5 in. presentation bears an aluminum plaque, engraved at the center: 'He was the first among equals, and he was shown a greater and truer human reverence than was ever shown to emperors, kings, and princes later on, who demanded it according to Byzantine ceremonies alien to the people. He was called duke and king and was a leader a thousand years ago.'. At the bottom appears Himmler's signature in facsimile and his title. Set on the lower left is an impressive bronze casting of a bust of Henry I. The entirety is set into a pine frame trimmed in red. The reverse is sealed with paper tape and bears a label with swastika reading (in German): 'We Are All Soldiers'. Sold as is.
