Description:

A fine grouping of photographs once belonging to Heinrich Himmler, includes: a 5 1/4" x 7" b/w image of Himmler, two generals and several officers outdoors and apparently examining papers or a map, the verso annotated in Himmler's hand: "Travel To Grodno 30.VI.1941", photo credit Friedrich Franz Bauer; a 5" x 7" b/w image of Himmler in uniform outside his train and laughing in the midst of several other SS officers; and a 2 1/2" x 3 3/4" b/w image showing Himmler greeting a large group of SS men outdoors, with what appears to be a barracks in the background. An (anonymous) typewritten description which accompanies and identifies the photo indicates that these photos, with nine others as well as various Himmler documents, were taken from Himmler's residence in Berlin. Fine condition. The first image is particularly sinister: in November, 1941 the SS established two ghettos in Grodno to corral and persecute 26,000 Jews in this Polish-Russian border city.
