Description:

HEINRICH HIMMLER
(1900 - 1945) Hitler's Chief of the Gestapo placed in charge of security and responsible for the construction and operation of extermination camps. He chose suicide rather than face a hangman's noose at Nuremberg. Good content T.L.S., 1p. oblon g 8vo., "Field Headquarters", June 19, 1943 to "Dear Herff!". In part: "...Area commander SS-Gruppenfuhrer [August] Eigruber, whom I have also submitted for promotion and who has now become head SS-Obergruppenfuhrer has told me that...the S.A. had suggested him to the Fuhrer to become S.A. group leader. Please tell the Chief of Personnel of the S.A. to remove Eigruber from the S.A. records as he has been promoted SS-Obergruppenfuher...". File holes at left, else very good. Typical of Himmler's constant efforts to ingratiate himself with Hitler while subverting his competitors. August Eigruber (1907-1947) was Gauleiter of Oberdonau (Upper Danube) and Landeshauptmann of Upper Austria, executed for his role in the murders at Mauthausen concentration camp.
