Description:

HEER OFFICER'S DAGGER BY HERDER
Heer officer's dagger, in excellent condition. The pommel, encircled with an oak leaf motif, remains highly detailed, marred only by a bit of wear and a flat spot on the upper rim, probably from having been dropped. The crossguard and ferrule are in very fine condition, exhibiting all of their original crisp detail with virtually no discernable damage. The blade bears the deeply-etched maker's mark of the firm Rich. Abr. Herder of Solingen on the reverse ricasso. The blade also shows only the smallest defect, that being the lightest surface corrosion, very scattered. Lacking the leather washer. The scabbard is in equally fine condition, with no dents or other damage, and has much less tarnish than is usually seen. The oak leaf hanger bands are securely fastened. There is a small fissure on the bottom edge of the scabbard, near the throat, quite inoffensive. In very good condition overall. A superior example.
