Description:

A fine example of a Heer Artillery officer's visor cap, constructed of standard green wool with a dark green band, the edges of the band and crown each lined with red "waffenfarbe" piping. The center of the band is fitted with a silver-colored oak wreath surrounding a cockade, with a silver colored metal shell political eagle above the band at the peak of the cap. A black leather chin strap is affixed over the black visor by a black button at each side. The interior is fitted with a light-brown faux-leather sweatband and lined with brown rayon. The lining shows a black stamp "56 1/2", as well as the remnants of the original diamond-shaped celluloid sweat shield at center, leaving behind the original stitching and some pieces of celluloid therein. The faint black size stamp "36" is visible on the inside of the sweatband at left, and two additional ink stamps surround the sweatband: one reads "WALDEMAR KESSLER ARNSTADT", the other quite faded yet appears to read "B. Toufel Sohn." The sweat shield shows minor separations from the lining, the sweatband shows slight wear and soiling, and some minor moth nips present on the crown, else very good.
