HE-111 BRITISH CRASH RELIC
A substantial section of a German He-111 bomber shot down over England and subsequently decorated with a painting of a Spitfire and He-111 in aerial combat. The 16 x 18 in. aluminum section of the bomber's fuselage bears a pencil note on one side: 'GERMAN BOMBER HEINKEL HE111 V4+FH[?] 3325 SHOT DOWN 1941 19 JAN 1941 WYKHAMS FARM, STEYNING DURING THE BATTLE OF BRITAIN'. The front, or exterior side of the panel bears an oil painting depicting an He-111 with one engine afire, the responsible Spitfire flying just above. Painted above (in German) the artist added: 'We fly against England' beneath adds: 'HEINKEL HE 111 GERMAN BOMBER CRASHED 19TH JAN 1941 WYCKHAMS FARM, STEYNING'. A great relic, very good condition.
