Description:

HARRY S. TRUMAN (1884-1972) 33rd President of the United States who led the country in the closing days of World War II and through the re-building of Europe under the Marshall Plan and the Korean War. Scarce partly-printed D.S. as President, 1p. folio, Washington, May 3, 1951, the appointment of William C. Birthright to serve as a: "Member of the Wage Stabilization Board". Nicely signed by Truman at bottom, co-signed by Secretary of State DEAN ACHESON. Very good. The Wage Stabilization Board was a part of the Office of Defense Mobilization and existed from September 9, 1950, to February 6, 1953. Its function was to make wage control policy recommendations and to implement such wage controls as were approved.
