(1884 - 1972) 33rd President of the United States who led the country in the closing days of World War II and through the rebuilding of Europe under the Marshall Plan and the Korean War. A group of three official copies of speeches made by Truman, 1950-1954. The first is text for an address of the President ‘…to be delivered at the War Memorial Opera House in San Francisco…Oct. 17, 1950...for release in regular editions of morning newspapers of Oct. 18, 1950…'. Truman discusses a meeting with Douglas MacArthur at Wake Island and uses it as a starting point for putting forth the U.S.'s stance on the Korean War: ‘…The United States action in Korea is of supreme importance for all the people of the world…The only victory we seek is the victory of peace…'. WITH: the text of another address ‘…made at the dedications of ceremonies of the Arnold Engineering Development Center, Tuscaloosa…June 25, 1951…', 14pp. legal folio, in which Truman praises the work of the center and dedicates it to legendary Air Force general Harold ‘Hap' Arnold. WITH: the text of a third address broadcast from TV station KLZ Denver, CO., Aug. 23, 1954, 8pp. legal folio, updating the public on the ‘…stewardship of your Federal governmental affairs in Washington…', from domestic production to international relations. Accompanied by the printed press schedule for Saturday, Aug. 21, 1954 during Truman's trip to Denver. Toning and some offsetting consistent with age, otherwise very good.
