HARRY S. TRUMAN
(1884-1972) 33rd President of the United States who led the country in the closing days of World War II and through the re-building of Europe under the Marshall Plan and the Korean War. T.L.S. on his post-presidential letterhead, 1p. 8vo., Independence, Mo., Apr. 6, 1961, to George M. Arrowsmith, in part: "...I am as sorry as I can be that I was not here at the time you came in. I wish some of the people in the front office had stopped me when I didn't see you. I sincerely hope that you and Mrs. Arrowsmith will be able to be here for the dedication of the Library Mural which Thomas Hart Benton has painted...". Truman adds in his hand: "That dedication will be Apr. 15, '61". With original envelope, fine condition.
