1606. WILLIAM C. HANDY (1873-1958) American musician and composer considered "Father of the Blues", composer of "Memphis Blues" and "St. Louis Blues". Signed sheet music, "Saint Louis Blues", published by Handy Brother Music Co., New York, picturing an antebellum Mississippi River and St. Louis scene, inscribed adding "Season's Greetings" at center and dated Dec. 16, 1942. The recipient added a small sticker at center which appears to be attached loosely and can probably be soaked off with no ill effect, else very good. Matted and framed. $150-200
