11A. JOHN HANCOCK. (1737-1793)  American Revolutionary politician and first signer of the Declaration of Independence, President of the Continental Congress and two-time Governor of Massachusetts. The bottom portion of partly-printed D.S., 1p, 8" x 4 1/2" (sight), Boston, March 21, 1782, countersigned by John Avery, trimmed from a larger document although complete in itself. Hancock, as Governor of Massachusetts authorizes the seal of the state to be affixed. Very slight offset to printed text otherwise as fine an example as one could hope for. Beautifully matted and framed with an engraving to an overall size of 14 1/2" x 23". Not examined out of frame. $2,500-3,500
