Description:

GUNTHER BLUMENTRITT (1892 - 1967) German general, instrumental in planning the German invasion of Poland and France, participated in Operation Barbarossa, and afterward bore a large part of the responsibility for planning the defense of the Atlantic Wall and Normandy. Comprehensive archive of 30 signed items, including 17 A.L.S.'s and 13 T.L.S.'s, most 4to. and including three T.L.S.'s and eleven A.L.S.'s executed on the versos of 12mo. postcards, and several with autograph post-scripts in his hand. Blumentritt signs at the conclusion of each in black or blue ink, with several also featuring signatures and post-scripts from his wife, Mathilde. Also present are an additional unsigned A.L. with an A.L.S. from Mathilde Blumentritt on the verso, and an A.L.S. from Mathilde Blumentritt, forwarding a map of the Courland Pocket in Blumentritt's hand. All are written in German to prolific American military historian CHARLES B. BURDICK, providing information for his many books on the High Command of the Wehrmacht (OKW). All are untranslated by us, but given the source and the recipient they most certainly feature good content, and are worthy of research. All very good. Should be seen.
