Description:

(1892-1967) German general, instrumental in planning the German invasion of Poland and France, participated in Operation Barbarossa, and afterward bore a large part of the responsibility for planning the defense of the Atlantic Wall and Normandy. A signed typed copy of an order given by Blumentritt at war's end, 1p. 4to., dated May 5, 1945. In part: 'I expect strict discipline and soldiery from all members of the Army group. In particular, the brave units and associations that have fought to the last are supposed to give the enemy and the population a worthy image of discipline and order and to intervene against all government...I know that even after the surrender I see firmly established associations on the battlefield that uphold their dignity to the end.' Blumentritt signs the conclusion in blue ink. Fine condition. This authentically-signed copy was taken from a grouping of Blumentritt's original orders in his possession, thus it may be war-date or owned by the General himself.
