GROVER CLEVELAND
Superb association T.L.S. on personal letterhead, "Grover Cleveland", 1p. 8vo., Buzzard's Bay, June 27, 1897, a letter to photograph and film pioneer Alexander Black. In part: "...I desire to thank you for the photographs you kindly sent me. One of them we regard as especially good and the other by no means bad. I am curious to know how they are to find a place in 'A Capitol Courtship'...". Cleveland is referring to the images of himself he lent for Black's A Capitol Courtship, a groundbreaking 1897 photoplay. Black's photoplay techniques would go on to be major innovations in motion picture technology. Lot includes holographic transmittal cover. Letter has light staining at top left and lower left, fine signature, very good.
