Griffin", 2pp. 8vo., [Northern Virginia], May, 25, 1863 addressed to Col. Francis J. Parker, former commander of the 32nd Mass. Vols., concerning the incompetence of Union commanders at Chancellorsville and alluding that too many speculators were becoming rich from the war, reading, in part: "...of course you have read all about the brilliant deeds of the late battle at Chancellosville. One that was there is tired of following incompetent leaders and this remark applies to many generals. Should you see an opening for a man of thirty five who has an extravagant wife and one child please let me know. I want the almighty dollar now having military glory sufficient..."
