Rare D.S. as President, 1p. folio parchment, Washington, Sept. 24, 1874, a four-language ship's paper issued to the whaling vessel Jacob A. Howland, representing the ship Jacob A. Howland of 355.16 tons, sailing from New Bedford to the "Pacific Ocean", and laden with "Provisions, Utensils, and Stores for a Whaling Voyage. Countersigned by HAMILTON FISH as Secretary of State. Slight toning at folds and offsetting to signature, edges a bit rough at folds, overall very good. $1,500 - 2,000
