457. CHESTER GOULD (1900-1985) American cartoonist who was first to introduce crime and violence to the comics with his creation of "Dick Tracy". Excellent original comic strip signed in full, 23" x 7", a hand-drawn and inked four-panel daily "Dick Tracy" strip for Oct. 26, 1966 showing Tracy confronting a killer in his hospital bed. The first panel shows a steam shovel's bucket bearing the "bodies of your two henchman", with a skeletal corpse "waiting in cold storage to send you to the chair". Fine condition. $300-400
