(1898 - 1978) Prime Minister of Israel who led the nation in the October, 1973 war against the Arabs. Fine content T.L.S. Meir analyzes relations between the U.S. and the Soviet Union, while taking a backhanded slap at President Eisenhower. In part: "...I do not see any lessening of the gap between the blocs nor any thawing of the Cold War between the great powers, despite the declaration of Foreign Minister Dulles. It is unnecessary to explain the Soviet system of government, even under a new leadership. On the other hand, President Eisenhower is also not a forceful man and does not take a sufficiently decisive stance even on Europe's problems, this may be a result of America's democratic structure, which is in his way...any lessening of the gap between the powers...seems to me to be psychological...". Indeed, only a few months later Israeli military intelligence planted bombs in Egyptian, American and British-owned targets in Egypt in an effort to end American efforts to improve relations with Nasser.
