In part: "...We are camped amongst the 5th Corps (Meade's Corps) but I do not know whether we have been assigned to it or not. Gen'l Meade is in command of the Army of the Potomac, Hooker has been removed. It is thought that McClellan will be in command in a few days...it is reported that Lee is recrossing the Potomac and is moving on Washington...". With original transmittal cover.
