Description:

Traditional miner's tunic, potentially wardate and likely originating from Germany or Austria, constructed of black and green wool. The garment also bears a vertical pocket at each breast, which can be closed with five brass buttons bearing crossed hammers. The tunic is closed at front by eight similar buttons. Each sleeve bears two vertical bars of green wool, an emblem of 'crossed hammers' embroidered in gold bullion above a green shield, a green woolen flap with black fringe, and green woolen cuffs with five decorative buttons. The interior rayon lining bears one horizontal slash pocket at the left hip, with a decorative emblem toward the right hip, likely a manufacturer's mark. Ownership label bears the printed name: 'Josef Leidel'. Size markings not present. Generally very good to fine condition, with no notable structural defects. Sold with a white button-down shirt and white pair of trousers, which may have once accompanied the tunic.
