Description:

GERMAN PROPAGANDA DROPPED ON RUSSIA
Interesting lot of ten pieces from World War II, small handbills printed in Russian created by the Germans to insert into canisters to be dropped upon Russian troops. Measuring 6" x 8" each, the handbills encouraged the troops to surrender, and some were printed with a statement reading "passierschein" or passport, which would, apparently, guarantee the soldier clemency and non-harassment by the German Army if he should surrender. Additionally, some of the handbills have sadistic anti-Semitic content, such as "Beat the Jew Commissar! His face is begging for a brick!", with images of soldiers beating Jews, and so forth. Finally, a few also show incredibly idealized images of prisoners in Russian labor camps happily working on electronics and palling around. Some pieces show a bit of discoloration, otherwise very good condition.
