The parchment scroll can be rolled out and is decorated with an allegory of Liezenmayer''s farewell: the heraldic animal of Stuttgart, a red horse, with a palette showing the monogram "AL" leaping away from the "Münchner Kindl" (a symbolic figure representing the town) and toward a Württemberg cherub, on the right corner the monogram "RS". Beneath the calligraphed dedication and 277 signatures. Among the donors are Dr. v. Erhardt (first mayor), v. Alexander von Liezenmayer first studied in Vienna and from 1852 onward in Munich at the Art Academy under v. Piloty. His nomination as director of the Stuttgart Art Academy in 1880 was followed only three years later by his return to Munich as professor for historical painting. In 1893 he became professor for religious painting at the Munich Art Academy. Unique document, impressive not only because of its outstanding meaning for the Munich art scene but also for its remarkable craftsmanship.
