Description:

GERMAN P.O.W.'S MAKE CRAFTS TO MAINTAIN THEIR SANITY
Superb and unique set of German P.O.W. relics from Camp Forrest in Tullahoma Tennessee. The camp, an active army installation from 1941 to 1946, trained various combat specialties and housed prisoners of war: From May 12, 1942, Camp Forrest held captured Axis troops and civilian detainees living in America. This lot consists of two handcut pieces of aluminum shaped into Nazi insignia: the first an eagle holding an etched swastika and measures 2 1/2" across the wingspan; the second is a Luftwaffe eagle holding a cut-border swastika and measures 3 3/4 inches across the wingspan. Captured Nazi soldiers fashioned these items, and they were no doubt confiscated by camp authorities or recovered at the site of the camp. Very good.
