Typed period original listing of the 'German Order of Battle The Ardennes', otherwise known as the Battle of the Bulge, 4pp. 4to., [n.p., n.d., ca. 1940s], each page marked 'ORIGINAL' at top in green ink. A listing of the German senior officers involved in the campaign and their position, signed by eight including: FRITZ KRAEMER (1900–1959), high-ranking Waffen-SS commander in the 6th Panzer Army, chief of Staff to Sepp Dietrich; Gen. KARL WAGENER (1901–1988), chief of staff to Manteuffel, 5th Pz. Army, KC recipient; SIEGFRIEND VON WALDENBURG (1898-1973) German general and Knights Cross recipient, commander of the 116th Panzer Div.; SMILO FREIHERR VON LUTTWITZ (1895-1975) German general of the XLVII Pz. Corps whose troops surrounded those of Gen. Anthony McAuliffe at Bastogne. His ultimatum to McAuliffe was met with the latter's famous reply: 'Nuts!'; FRITZ BAYERLEIN (1899–1970), German general and commander of the Panzer Lehr Div., KC with Oak Leaves and Swords; HEINZ KOKOTT (1900-1976), German general and commander 26 VG Div., KC; WALTER DENKERT (1897-1982), German general and commander 3 Pz. Gren., KC; and RUDOLF-CHRISTOPH FREIHERR VON GERSDORFF (1905 - 1980) German army officer and Knights Cross recipient who attempted to assassinate Adolf Hitler by suicide bombing on 21 March 1943. The plan failed when Hitler left early, but Gersdorff was undetected. He also supplied Stauffenberg with the explosives used in the July 20, 1944 bomb attempt. Chief of staff to Brandenberger, 7 Army. Fine condition.
