Rare selection of thirteen items signed by German military test pilots. Included is: HANNA REITSCH (1912-1979), the first woman to fly a helicopter, a rocket plane, and a jet fighter. She is also remembered as being a loyal confidant of Adolf Hitler, even landing a small plane in central Berlin in an attempt to extract Hitler only days before the city fell, postal cover bearing an original illustration of a manned V-1, signed and postmarked 1973; ALEXANDER M. LIPPISCH (1894–1976), aeronautical engineer, a pioneer of aerodynamics who made important contributions to the understanding of tailless aircraft, delta wings and the ground effect, designed the Messerschmitt Me 163 rocket-powered interceptor, T.L.S., 1p. 4to., 1972, sends a signed card to an admirer; WOLFGANG SPATE Luftwaffe officer and Knights Cross with Oak Leaves recipient, in charge of the development of the Me-163 Komet, S.P., 5" x 7" b/w mounted images of the Me-163 and Me-262 annotated and signed by Spate; RUDOLPH OPITZ (1910-2010), Luftwaffe glider pilot and Me-163 test pilot, I.S.P., 3" x 6", mounted photo of Opitz inscribed and signed on mount; FRANZ-WALTER WOIDICH (1921-2004), Luftwaffe ace with 110 kills, including four bombers with the Me-163, S.P., 4" x 5", repro image in uniform signed in blue ink; GUNTER ANDREAS Me-163 pilot, three signed photos including a portrait and two images of a Me-163B; OTTO A. BOHNER (1913-?) Luftwaffe ace, later tested the Me 163 fighter and was appointed Staffelkapitän of 2./JG 400 flying 16 combat missions with the fighter, S.P., 3" x 9", mounted images of the Me-163; HANS BOTT Luftwaffe pilot with JG 400, downed a B-17 with his Me-163, typed military record signed at bottom, 2001; WERNER JUNG, Me-163 pilot, S.P., 3" x 4", photocopy of his portrait in uniform; ROLF (BUBI) GLOGNER, Me-163 pilot, S.P., 3" x 9", mounted image of the Me-163; and HANS GUIDO MUTKE (1921–2004), fighter pilot flying the Me 262A-1a jet. On Apr. 25, 1945 he claimed that he got lost during a combat mission and landed in Switzerland in error, A.L.S. 1p. 4to., Munich, 2003, in German and untranslated but mentions the Me-262.
