Description:

GERMAN MEDALS
Group of three Weimar and Third Reich medals, includes: Sudetenland medal, 1 1/4" dia., depicting two nudes bearing a national flag, atop a platform decorated with a national eagle. The reverse bears the inscription: "Ein Volk, Ein Reich, Ein Fuhrer", and the date "1 Oktober 1938". The medal includes its red-white-and-black ribbon, which bears a Prague castle bar. This indicates that the owner participated in both the annexation of the Sudetenland and the occupation of the remainder of Czechoslovakia. The award also includes its ribbon bar, which bears its own miniature Prague Castle bar. Very good. WITH: Eastern Front medal, approx. 1 1/2" dia., depicting an eagle atop a stationary swastika, with a helmet and stick grenade at the top, and the inscription: "Winterschlacht Im Osten, 1941/42", above a sword and laurel branch on the reverse. This medal was awarded to those who served on the Russian Front during the winter of 1941-1942, and was commonly referred to as the "Order of the Frozen Flesh" by those who received it. The award also includes its ribbon bar. Moderately oxidized, else very good. WITH: Kyffhauserbund World War I medal, 1 3/4" x 1 1/4", depicting a torn banner with lightning bolts, with the inscription: "Blank die Wehr - Rein die Ehr", and the date 1914-1918. The reverse of the medal features a quote from Hindenburg, taken from his 1918 surrender order, with the name of the organization. The award is suspended from its original red-white-and-black ribbon. The Kyffhauserbund was an umbrella organization for veterans' and reservists' organizations, nominally presided over by Hindenburg. Very good. Three pieces.
