Description:

GERMAN HUNTING ASSOCIATION PLATE
Fine display plate made by Meissen, 9 1/2" dia., honoring the Deutschen Jager Verein or German Hunting Association. This was the official organization first established by Hermann Göring, Chief Forestry Chief and Hunting Master in Nazi Germany. The plate bears stag head associated with the legend of St. Hubertus, but this design is adapted to show the cross and swastika together. A ribbon below the stag head has the D.J. for Deutscher Jager. "Jagdgau Sachsen" appears at top, referencing hunting in Saxony. Marked with Meissen's trademark on verso. Fine.
