Description:

GERMAN GENERALMAJOR'S TUNIC AND TROUSERS
German army generalmajor tunic and trousers. The tunic is constructed of high quality doeskin wool, befitting of a general rank officer. The front closes with five gilt pebbled aluminum buttons which match the four buttons used for the pockets. The chest and hip pockets are pleated and scalloped, and sleeves terminate in broad French cuffs. Acetate shoulder boards are sewn-in, also bearing gold-pebbled buttons, and they match the collar tabs. The right breast bears an acetate national eagle and swastika that also matches the other insignia on the uniform. On the right breast is a set of loops for the attachment of a decoration, typically a Spanish Cross or German Cross. Over the left breast pocket are six loops for the attachment of a long ribbon bar. On the left pocket is a tailored hole for the attachment of a screw back decoration and beneath is a single set of loops. All of these show wear consistent with use. The tunic's exterior bears at most a few miniscule moth nips. The interior is lined with gray/green artificial silk. The tunic comes with the general's trousers with bright red stripes that run the length on each pant leg. The fly is secured by four plastic buttons and secures at top with a catch and receiving clip. There is a vertical pocket on each pant leg and a watch pocket at front. Each side has an adjustment tab. The interior is partially lined with cotton. Someone has written the name "Smith" on one of the pockets, likely a post-war laundry mark. The gray flannel pants, like the tunic, are in excellent condition.
