GERMAN GENERAL'S SERVICE TUNIC
Fine, high quality German General's Service Blouse. Tailored in a fine grade of tricot wool, the blouse has two pleated patch breast pockets and two pleated patch hip pockets. Sleeves are finished with simple turn back cuffs. The dark green wool stand and fall collar is secured with two sets of black painted steel hooks and eyelets, the tunic lining is of green rayon and has one internal pocket on the left breast, and a hemmed through-pocket dagger hanger opening at the lower left pocket. There is also a maker's tag indicating manufacture by the tailor Christian Schwarz & Sohn, Munchen, located inside, rear center, just below the collar. The front opening is secured by five matching fine grained gilt pebbled buttons marked 'Assmann & Sohn, Ludenschied' on the reverse. Six additional gilt buttons are used to secure the four patch pocket flaps, as well as the shoulder boards; all matching and marked 'Extra Fein'. All buttons are attached with matching light green thread. Insignia includes hand embroidered general's collar patches of gold bullion embroidery on a red wool background that are machine sewn to the collar, Sewn-in matching General Officer shoulder boards of intertwined gilded metallic cord, adorned with two non-matching gold pips, indicate rank for a Major General and are affixed to the shoulder seams. An extremely high-quality Adler national emblem, hand embroidered of gold bullion wire on a dark green backing, is hand sewn to the upper right breast. The left breast has five loops for a ribbon bar above the pocket, as well as a circular hole with an embroidered eyelet for a screw back Iron Cross, First Class on the left breast pocket. Additionally, there are two woven loops under the breast pocket for another badge. The right breast pocket is adorned with two woven loops for attachment of the German Cross. This service blouse is in generally excellent condition, showing a few minor imperfections and weave pulls on the back, as well as a couple of light spots. Lining is free of tears, but showing a few minor stains marks around the collar opening. Each sleeve cuff has one small tear from normal use, and they have been period-repaired with a couple of stitches This is an extremely fine un-named general's tunic in solid condition with great color, no fading, and nearly no damage.
