Description:

GERMAN DECORATIONS AND INSIGNIA
Good lot of five German decorations and pieces of insignia, includes: Silver medal, 1 1/2" dia., bearing a high-relief depiction of Bavarian King Ludwig III in profile. The reverse bears the name of the town of "Kaltenbrunnen", and the medal was given as the symbol of office of the "burgermeister" ("mayor") of that town, circa World War I. The suspension loop appears to have been ground off, with additional slight wear apparent, else very good. WITH: Cloth armband, 8 1/2" x 2", clamp-dyed in black, white and red, with a national eagle and the title: "Deutscher Volkssturm Wehrmacht", identifying its wearer as a member of the "Volkssturm", the national militia established to defend Germany in the final months of World War II. Shows heavy folds from wear and minor soiling, else very good. WITH: an Honorary Commemorative Badge of the World War, 1 1/4" dia., awarded by the German Legion of Honor to veterans of World War I. Missing the original ribbon, else very good. WITH: Shoulder strap, 4 1/2" x 1", consisting of braided blue and gold wire on a red wool "waffenfarbe", with a single silver rank pip, as worn by personnel of the "Reichsbahn", the state railway. Cut at one end, else very good. WITH: Pinback badge, approx. 3/4" x 1/2", in the form of a "sig" rune with a mobile swastika at center, encircled by the motto "Für Leistungen im D.J." ("For Service in the Deutsches Jungvolk"). RZM-marked "M1/120" on the verso. Very good. Also present is a 1937-dated 10 "reichspfennig" coin. Six pieces.
