GERD VON RUNDSTEDT
(1875 - 1953) German field marshal who led the blitzkrieg attack on France, seizing the country within two weeks, defeated by Allied forces in Normandy and in the desperate Battle of the Bulge. Kassel, Good content T.L.S. as Chief of the General Staff, 3rd Cavalry Div., 1p. 4to., Sep. 6, 1920. Von Rundstedt mentions that an exchange of five horses had not been undertaken as their description had not been accurate. He further denies the request for reimbursement of 850 marks for transport as the horses should have been sent by foot rather than rail car. Signed in indelible pencil at bottom.
