(1913 - 2006) 38th President of the United States who assumed office upon the resignation of Richard Nixon, who Ford later pardoned for any involvement in the Watergate scandal. T.L.S. on personal letterhead, 1p., 8vo., Rancho Mirage, November 16, 2000, a reply to a citizen concerned over the hotly contested 2000 Presidential election between Al Gore and George Bush. In part: "...I thank you for your thoughtful letter indicating your deep concern with the Presidential election circumstances. I share your apprehension as to what is taking place. I am in contact with some who are involved, indicating my willingness to be helpful. I will take a responsible public position when it seems appropriate..." Boldly signed, "Gerald R. Ford" in black ink. Stationery includes a beautifully embossed gold Presidential eagle. Lot includes transmittal envelope, with franking signature, "Gerald R. Ford" in black ink. Fine.
