998. GEORGE VI (1895 - 1952) King of England who gained the throne upon the abdication of his brother Edward VIII; brought Winston Churchill to office as Prime Minister. Fine partly-printed D.S. "George R.I." as King, oblong folio, Saint James's, Jan. 18, 1938. Countersigned by C.G. Liddell, A.G., and H.J. Creedy. The King appoints John Parker Lucas to be a "Second Lieutenant" in "Our Land Forces" [identified on verso as "The Buffs (Royal East Kent Regiment)"]. Bears fine embossed paper and red-wax Royal Seal at top left below King George's bold signature. A striking document for display. $300 - 400
