GEORGE S. PATTON (1885 - 1945) "Old Blood and Guts" was one of the finest tank commanders in history, rolling his forces through Tunisia, Sicily, France and Germany until halted at the Rhine. War-date T.L.S. as Commanding General of the Third United States Army, on Headquarters letterhead, 1p., 4to, APO 403 [Manheim, Germany], Sept. 22, 1945, to Mr. Patrick E. Moran. In part: "...Many thanks for the interesting book, 'The Mightiest Army' [written by Col. Karl Detzer, American, 1945 through Reader's Digest] which arrived today...". Boldly signed at bottom. Minor folds, some browning on middle left crease, else very good. Patton no doubt enjoyed reading the book in victory, only months before his fatal automobile accident in Germany.
