Description:

GEORGE S. PATTON, JR.
(1885 - 1945) "Old Blood and Guts" was one of the finest tank commanders in history, rolling his forces through Tunesia, Sicily, France and Germany until halted at the Rhine. Vintage S.P., 6" x 8", b/w, depicting the stern-faced Patton, in Bavaria, in full uniform from mid-leg up, with Third Army helmet, four general's stars, and signature belt. The handle of Patton's iconic riding crop can be seen in the left hand. Boldly signed, "GS Patton Jr" in black ink with excellent contrast against the white portion of Patton's pants. Beautifully matted against a white background with black ribbing and held in a black-bordered frame. Significant hairline webbing at top half of photograph, with a broken-paper horizontal crease at center, some slight rippling and creasing also at the signature; not examined outside of frame. Very good.
