Description:

GEORGE S. PATTON, JR.
(1885 - 1945) "Old Blood and Guts" was one of the finest tank commanders in history, rolling his forces through Tunisia, Sicily, France and Germany until halted at the Rhine. Excellent, oversize I.S.P. , 11" x 14" b/w with an excellent association, the image showing the stern four-star general in a chest-up pose, inscribed at bottom: "To good old Tex from G. S. Patton Jr.". Ink just the slightest bid faded, slight soiling at extreme margins from prior framing, else near fine. From the estate of the recipient, Col. Ernest "Tex" Lee, who served throughout the war as Eisenhower's Executive Officer and Aide de Camp. Lee joined Ike in June, 1941 and assisted in the planning of the invasions at Normandy and Sicily, and the ultimate defeat of Germany.
