GEORGE S. PATTON GROUPING
Superb grouping of war-date and post-war Patton items from the personal collection of Colonel Rufus Bratton, the Army infantry and intelligence officer whose work and actions during the Pearl Harbor attack were fictionalized in the movie Tora Tora Tora. In 1943, the Army transferred Bratton to the post of Headquarters Commandant for Patton's Third Army-- keeping Bratton in close contact with Patton from the Third Army's Nazi-greased trek through France to their post-war occupation of Berlin. Lot includes: A.N. [unsigned], 1p., 8vo., [Berlin], December 25, 1944, an inscribed Christmas card from Patton to Bratton, in part: "To the nicest family I know."; original mimeographed copy of Patton's typed memo, "General Orders Number 1", Berlin, Jan. 1, 1945, a letter of thanks to officers and soldiers of the Third Army after receiving a second Oak Leaf Cluster on his Distinguished Service Medal from General Omar Bradley, in part: "From the bloody corridor at Avranches, to Brest, thence across France to the Saar, over the Saar into Germany, and now on to Bastogne, your record has been one of continuous victory... The speed and brilliancy of your achievements is unsurpassed in military history...This award was bestowed on me not for what I have done, but because of what you have achieved..."; original mimeographed copy of Patton's typed January 26, 1945 memo to the officers of the General and Special Staff, commending them for their efforts during the Third Army's campaign; original program for Patton's January 20, 1946 memorial in Washington, D.C. Also included is a holiday card to Bratton emblazoned with the French Forces of the Interior (FFI) insignia.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyer's should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
