1334. PRINCE GEORGE, DUKE OF CAMBRIDGE (1819-1904) member of the British Royal Family, a male-line grandson of King George III. The Duke was an army officer and served as commander-in-chief of the British Army from 1856 to 1895. Partly-printed D.S., 1p. Folio, London, Oct. 13, 1871, an appointment of Arthur Smith to serve as lieutenant in the "First Regiment of Foot", boldly signed at bottom. One vertical fold completely split, entirely document backed with linen, some soiling, still good. $75-100
